I hate to ask but what the hell is >_> supposed to mean. I see it everywhere online. Here, FFXI, and a few other sites. >.< is pretty popular too. Both of those faces (and I use the word faces loosely) make it look like you shut your hand in the oven, or you got kicked in the jewels. >_> is shifty eyes >.< is a "damn" face |

At the moment I'm playing: Rebel Strike FIFA Soccer 2003 Looking forward to: Grand Theft Auto San andreas anything else coming out soon. |

FF7 is the greatest game of all time SoE, and has the evidence of countless polls (like the GameFAQs Spring one) to back that fact (not opinion, fact) up.

The fact is : it was simply the most played. It was the most publicized RPG, no wonders why it was the most played...
I talked to a lot of RPG masters and none of them agreed with FF7 being the best. Concerning FFs, they mostly say that the old school ones were the best.
Concerning general gaming, it varies...
For my self, Xenogears is the best RPG of all time...for now...the story line and the characters' deep personnality can simply be unmatched.

Well, Xenogears is made by Square but Xenosaga Episode 5 will surely be better than Xenogears and won't be made by Square. |

SoE: The FFs have a wide range of opinion over which is the best. However, it is generally accepted among the RPG Vets that 7 is the best, and the ones after 7 weren't nearly as good.
CJay: a) I gave the GameFAQs poll as an example, it's by far the only poll it has won. b) care to name 4 or 5 RPGs better, giving logical reasons why? I'm fairly sure it's not possible. 4 or 5 great RPGs maybe, but not ones better than FF7
Dark: a) see a) for CJay. b) Your gamespot poll is just one poll. I'm basing my claim that FF7 is the best of several polls and reviews, and the opinions of almost everyone I know. When it comes to games, the gamers decide which is best. So winning far more polls than any other game = fact when it comes to best game. Therefore, me = not owned. Maybe you should shut up and give a decent reason before you randomly declare that you owned someone without giving them a chance to respond.

BIG difference there, learn the difference before you reply next time. b) Define a cliched villain. In my opinion, Sephiroth is a great character. c) Like I said, FF7 doesn't have to be original. Its materia system is perfect, and as that is the centre of the gameplay it follows that the gameplay is perfect/near perfect. The story, whether parts of it are 'borrowed', is gripping, and really makes you care about the characters. And just because a main character was killed in another FF game (remember to mark for spoilers next time  ), that doesn't stop it from being a great twist in FF7. |
