It looked like Al Bhed, but I put in a translator and it wasn't.

OK guys, my final review of Samurai Warriors: Forgive me if you loved it, but wait till you have played it a few weeks before thinking it is wonderful.
My take?
It is nowhere near as good as Dynasty Warriors, and I do not think you will easily find a way of putting it in tournament play unless you try to tweak their scoring system immensely.
Should you buy it? Well, I did, and I got some good play out of it, but it is amazingly not up to par in replay value. It will not last you long (compared to DWarriors). There are 14 or 15 characters (can't remember). You will never want to play the same stage twice. Why?
- the camera angle
has been raised and it now looks down more, so that you cannot see far ahead, almost never the horizon in view. You constantly come upon barricades and gates that have not opened and you spend MUCH more time running around, trying to find your way, rather than fighting. Because of the many narrow paths, and the constant pressure to find some far off spot on the map to complete a mission(which means go to the blue dots and kill whoever you find there), you almost never bother with peons, except in a few levels.
-fighting.
Although it is similar to dynasty warriors and there are a few more moves, EVERY time you fight a general it goes like this: Hit him/her with whichever combo you have found to be the most effective for your character (this is usually just square square square square square), then when you get them down below about 1/5 life left, they ALWAYS do the same thing. They attack you with a musou which you cannot defend unless you are lucky enough to get an easily won weapon lock, and then at the end of this musou you are knocked exactly the same distance away from the enemy general and will land flat on the ground unless you spring back up as usual in DW in mid-air.
At this point they ALWAYS stand and recharge their musou and their life bar, except that of course EVERY time, you run back up to them and hit them before this last life-bar charge occurs, and you finish them off and they die. This happens with EVERY character and is EXACTLY the same with all of them.
Do you get the idea? In DWariors at least it was a standup fight and the recharge likelihood for the enemy seemed to be different in each battle for each enemy. The chance of being swarmed by the enemy peons is even less thatn it was in DW4. KOEI seems intent on slowly removing the best parts of their games. God help us for Empires.
- Music
lets see, I know there must have been some but I can't recall....... it is so forgettable. This trumpet blows every time a "blue dot" mission appears and a drum sounds every time a "blue dot" mission has ended. Same horn, same drum, EVERY time. That is something I can remember, but unless you enjoy being a test animal for some Pavlovian experiment, I doubt it will give you a big rush.
-the inside castle stages
hmmm, annoying, (you should see the several topics on gamefaqs that have gone by where people whine about them- deservedly), but almost less anoying than the convoluted "open" stages. Imagine whatever forgettable stage that is in DW4 where Dian Wei crashes down the wall, but the rest of the time you run around wondering where to go, while Cao Cao slowly escapes. Except that here there are not even nice shiny marble floors. Repeat this stage for every floor of a 5 level castle and realize that you will have to do this at least once with every character you play....... Not too inspiring.
- Scoring. 5 categories all "graded" as S(super), A B or C. Gee, thanks teach. I really needed that input (yawn...when does school get out). Hope I get into college and that something will happen there. The categories are: musou kills (hard to find anyone to kill though), Time, mission completion, item finding (now that is really a dumb idea), and ....heck ....I can't even remember the other one.
You get an overall grade so you know if you will pass this semester I guess. How we could use this in a tournament? Well, we will have to get ingenious. SOE could find a way I think, but geez, we would have to scrap their system totally.
Good stuff: Getting the 5th weapons is interesting, as always for a final weapon. Getting your character to that point is a very repetitive experience, although much shorter than it is in DW4.
What else?...hmmm....Okuni fights with this umbrella and in the few places where she can jump off a ledge, she can hold it up and float. The trouble is that they didn't design even one level where this can be used for fun and/or advantage.
Two characters (only two!) can double jump up to a couple of secret paths. That is cool, but there are so few of these. (3 or 4 total in the whole game)
The method of creating a character (CAW) is more interesting. But once you have them, if you could just get outside onto a DWarriors battlefield you could have some fun. Alas, you are stuck with SWarriors battlefields.
Remember the beautiful sunset in Cheng Du? You will never see that in this game. You better take some Vitamin D before playing, because the skies here are definitely cloudy all day (when you are actually outside).
Sorry for the negativity. The game kept me busy for a few weeks, but it was almost more of a duty. I was always wondering what other game I should or could be playing.

The game kept me busy for a few weeks, but it was almost more of a duty. I was always wondering what other game I should or could be playing. The view is not because of the camera angle. It is because of the dumb ass fog. Have you tried two-player mode? It's a joke. You can't see ten feet in front of you. It's not the angle, it's the fog. I'll agree with the fighting part, I guess. There is music. Not as good as DW3(God I love that music) but better than DW4, IMO. Hey, if you get the Lantern, then it iluminates the entire map, and it is very easy to complete the stages. When I first started thus game, I despised the castle stages, but then, I just got used to them, and I actually kinda like 'em. It's an opinion really. And if you noticed ... only newbs were complaining about castle levels, the vets don't mind them. I agree there again. THe scoring system sucks blue balls. It's a discrace to the old DW scoring system. And I have one more thing to add that wasn't in j00r post. It's the leveling system. When you get experience points and stats, you unlocks "skills" that you must purchse with "skill points". It is very easy to max out your stats before you max out your experience points. But when you get 99,999 experience points, then you can NO longer increase your "skills". I've done it with three people, but it is just too much of a hassle to fully max them out for a sense of perfection. Well, that was my brief opinion. I'm thinking of writing a review, but I don't really fell like it. I think you guys should rent it before you buy it. I don't regret buying it however. 7/10

One question about SWarriors. How the hell o you unlock more charcters. I beat Hanzo's, Yukimura's, Kenshin's,and my CAW's. I think there another, but I'm not sure. I haven't completed Oichi's, as I find her to be an annoying yet good charcter.

FF7 is without a doubt the best. I think there will be no argument there. FF8 was a love story. FF9 was also a very good game, but not as as FF7. Out of every FF game I have played, FF7 has the best storyline, and characters. I could give you arguments agaisnt that for ever! When I was young, I played FF1 as my first FF. Damn, it was great! A few months ago, I played FF2-3 in rom and found them great too since they had the same basis (even if FF2 was kinda different). Then, when I was a little older, I played FF4 and FF6. This time, they had a better story and character backgrounds. They were great! I don't know why I prefer the first three to those...Those two were amazing! FF7 was good...but not the best...heck, all FFs were good...FF9 is considered bad when compared to the others...but it is a good game by itself. And I prefer FF8 to FF7. The story is deeper and the characters too. But the best games of all times will always be Xenogears in first place and Vagrant Story in second. The only reason why those games are not ranked over FFs, is because not as much copies were released and they weren't as announced. But they are well ranked by everyone who played them. The best thing about Xenogears is the story line and the characters background. This serie is based on a manga, so the characters are well developped. And the story...you could never found a better story... Vagrant Story...I always liked hard games (this is probably why I prefer the first FFs) and this game gives me both a great story and difficulty. You can't find much games where you have 60% of chances of hitting a boss to 1 when he can kill you in 2 hits. On the second playthrough, it get much easier, but a new dungeon opens up and you'll get your match there. And the weapon system is just great!

Kunoichi Clear both Hattori Hanzou's and Takeda Shingen's scenarios. Lord Oda Nobunaga Clear Oichi's, Saiga Magoichi's, and Nouhime's scenarios. Meada Keiji Clear Uesugi Kenshin's scenario. Mori Ranmaru Clear Akechi Mitsuhide's scenario. Nouhime Clear Mori Ranmaru's scenario. Okuni Clear Maeda Keiji's scenario. Saiga Magoichi Clear any scenario once. Takeda Shingen Clear Sanada Yukimura's scenario.

Out of every FF game I have played, FF7 has the best storyline, and characters. Final Fantasy X was alright for a hwile, but then got really boring after the Luca world Cup. Once again, another love story. The only good thing about FFX is blitzball. I have only played through the first battle of FFX-2, but it already to have a poor battle system. The graphics were unbeleveably good, but if FF7 had those graphics, it would still be the best-selling game. I could give you arguments agaisnt that for ever! When I was young, I played FF1 as my first FF. Damn, it was great! A few months ago, I played FF2-3 in rom and found them great too since they had the same basis (even if FF2 was kinda different). And im not a fanboy either....... i like other RPG's too ya know Edit: I gotta say it....most rpgs have a love element to them Deng/Shinobi and errr i like FFX-2 battle system although like you said it isnt the best

And FFX-2's battle is really not bad...It is very active and allow a lot of timing to do things like an auto-revive and a auto-recover.

Xenogears and Vagrant Story? What platform are they? PS2? Nothing on gamefaqs, which is pretty meaningless I know, but still....
Sam Warriors: maybe it is the fog... all I know, is that I still haven't finished Goeman and Nobunaga, just got bored with the game. I will do it eventually, but there is something missing here. The scoring is probably the most annying thing, and the fact that in free mode they still have missions. There needs to be a missionless free mode along with the one they have.

What is with the "10 most recent posts" link at the bottom of the home page? I usually use it to find out what has been going on, but lately it seems to be missing all kinds of posts. Even hitting refresh will not fix it. Is this related only to this board or to all Proboards, or do I have something messed up on my browser?
