At first, everyone will only be allowed to use the character they selected. (At the exception of Cao Ren, Zhou Tai and Yue Ying, for who we will find an equivalent if the player use DW3)
Each players will start with only the move pattern of their character and a weapon of the same type.
To be allowed to use a different move pattern, you must have both the move patterns learned and a weapon of the same type.
If you are playing as Zhao Yun and want to use Jiang Wei's moves, you will only need the move pattern since Zhao Yun starts with a spear, but if you want to choose to Zhou Yu, you will also need to buy a sword.
In the registration (and the character reservation), players using CAWs will have to mention what will be their move patterns. (DW4-E seems to allow all move patterns to be used for CAWs, in those case, you will refer to the character from which the moves come from while playing other games)
To learn a different move pattern, you and another player having the move pattern you want must be willing to train together. The teacher can decide to ask money for his teachings if he wants to. But, as soon as you decide to train together, the two players will not be able to do anything (they can still do a few things, but they can't guard a city or do a battle).
You can also learn the move pattern of an enemy by winning an RP duel agaisnt them.
Ronins will be able to use all the move patterns, their only restriction will be the weapons.
Trading weapon is allowed among members of the same kingdom. Weapons can also be used as bet in bet duels.
Spears, swords and halberts will be available in every shops, but for some rare weapons, such as a katana, you will have to buy it from travelling merchants who will sell things randomly in your kingdom. Be sure to check the your kingdom board to see if any travelling merchants are around, or you could be missing a good deal!
Travelling merchants will sometimes carry valuable weapons, that will grant the user special effects.
Desolation
ie: Spear of Desolation ( 1 ) [ +1 ]
If a someone attacks a city with a weapon of desolation, the crop level of the city will be lowered.
The number betweens ( ) is the number of uses left to the weapon (usually one), if the number is 0, no effects will be granted and it will act as a regular weapon. To raise back the number of uses, you simply need to win a battle while fighting with another weapon than the one you want to restore. If you have two weapons without any powers left and use a third weapon to win a fight, both powers will be restored!
The number between [ ] is the bonus. For the case of weapons of desolation, it will lower the crops even more. A weapon with a +1 will remove 2 levels of crops to the attacked city. To raise this bonus, the user must pay the weapon price x the next level. (a weapon costing 1000 would cost 1000 to raise to +1, 2000 to raise to +2...You cannot skip levels, so you must pay 3000 to get to +2...)
Bows
To use Huang Zhong's and Xiahou Yuan's moves (we will make Xiahou Yuan use a sword since the CAW has a sword and he does in DW3) you only need a sword. But if you have one of those moves and a bow, you will be able to kill the enemy scout and the enemy will not have any other informations other than the enemy is attacking them. You do not need to use that move pattern to be able to perfom this, having the moves and a bow is enough.
